you always need a hook: 2012 work preview 2

This is my second 2012 preview of my new work, 'you always need a hook' a piece inspired by

my favourite bad guy Captin hook. Along with developing my

new style I am also trying to learn caligraphy as I think it is an essential skill to have

these days.

2012 personal work taster

Recently I feel I have been spending a bit too much time on my commercial work and not

enough time on my own personal work. Back last year whilst at Uni I

created a little character which the folks at Anorak Magazine loved I developed it a little

but as it didn't really fit in well with my project I left it to the side

but the other day I came across some of my sketches of it and got really inspired to use him/ it.

However I decided to change him from a simple pen drawing into a full colored

and shaded illustration. Above is the little character Im looking to develop a few more similar

little characters and put them in various little scenes and see where it takes me.

2012 looks to be an intresting year

Recently I found after completing an image, I would get bogged down with the color as I was doing full color along with tones ect ect. But after my last little stint (see last post) of going to back to coloring in the traditional way using merely colored pencils I found it helped free up my coloring and I have now started using the same free more loose style of coloring on photoshop. Which I am happy to say has really worked well on this image of Jama Masjid Delhi. Can't wait to do another building in this style. More work SOON
